Zoe is constantly struggling with the reality of her life, she has multiple dreams and is constantly being let down by reality. Readers will definitely be able to connect with her on a personal level especially my students who have only one parent being the sole provider for their entire family and accepting life as it really is. By the end of the story, she is able to see that money isn’t everything and she is has something worth more which is love. Many young readers need to read this book, so they can realize that life is more than materialistic things, it’s about the people who are in your life that care for you as Zoe found out in the end. The house is the main focus of the setting because that is where her dad feels most comfortable and where she learns to accept her life.
